Former Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, are now residents of Hamilton County.
They registered to vote last month in Clay Center precinct, which is in the western section of Carmel.
Pence, 61, originally from Columbus, Ind., left office as vice president in January and announced he was returning to Indiana.
At the time, he did not say where in the state he would be living, but recently it was reported he was locating in the Indianapolis area.
The former governor, before serving as vice president under Donald Trump, now has a position with the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.
“It’s good to be back home in Indiana,” Pence said on social media.
Carmel is becoming a home for former vice presidents.
Dan Quayle lived in Carmel for several years after leaving Washington in 1993. He served one term as V.P. with George W. Bush and now lives in Arizona.
Charles Warren Fairbanks, who served as Teddy Roosevelt’s vice president, had a farm in Carmel after leaving office in 1909.
Lord no!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t want him here!!!
Welcome back home to Indiana and welcome to our beloved Carmel!
Only fitting that Pence would move to a county that Richard Murdock carried.
He did uphold his constitutional oath on 1/6 though, a little late to cease being a lap dog, but better late than never.
He’ll be fine – roundabouts are entered by turning right.
Well there went the neighborhood. At least he’s on the other side of town.
Hope he enters one of the roundabout hells and continues in circles.
Come on down to Southeast Indiana. Lawrenceburg is a growing community that will welcome you with open arms!
Snarky comments. So some Carmelites only welcome folks who are just like them?
No we just like our former Leaders?? to have strength and souls.
Pence is a class act. Unlike some of the comments on here. Not surprising for lefties! Rudest group of people I have ever been around.
Whew! Zionsville just dodged a bullet. We’d heard he was moving here.? Have fun with that one, Carmel! ?
There is much about his politics that I disagree with, but he is a good man and good family man and I welcome him and his wife to our city.
Welcome Mr. Vice President to Carmel, IN. Enjoy the beauty of this enchanting area we also call home. We are happy to hear that you chose Carmel for your new residence and proud to be your neighbors. Hope to see you at Friendly Tavern one of these days.
Welcome, Home!
Meet Mike Pence and stayed in touch with him till he become VP. Never seen anything but a good honest and godly man.
Welcome back to Indiana
Welcome back home!!!!
