This week’s episode of The Omnibus Show welcomes Jim Merritt, former Indiana State Senator and President of JWM Consulting. He also has three podcasts, is on WIBC Radio, works as a consultant, and is in the midst of writing a new book.
Merritt discussed the ideas behind each of his podcasts: Jim Merritt’s Indiana, Merritt in the Morning, and Talk Radio GOP coming soon.
He discussed his strong belief in public service, as well as the many laws and policies he helped pass when in the Senate. Among those are the Safe Haven Law, which allows mothers to surrender their infants without fear of prosecution, and the Indiana Lifeline Law, which allows people to request help for minors who have overdosed or drank too much alcohol, again without being prosecuted.
Merritt discussed his time in office and the upcoming elections – both here in Indiana and on the national level. He reflects on how the government is shaping the world we live in and how the cost of living is affecting those with issues such as healthcare and hunger, as well as areas for growth.
Lessons Learned is Merritt’s upcoming book, in which he addresses the various changes that have happened since the COVID pandemic. He follows up on issues in education for Hoosier students.
