Former Purdue star Brian Cardinal’s son Bryson commits to Butler University

Guerin Catholic star Bryson Cardinal announced his commitment to Butler on Thursday, May 15.

Cardinal thanked Guerin Catholic for all the support in his announcement post to X (formerly Twitter).

Cardinal scored over 1,000 points in his career at Guerin Catholic. He helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 23-5 record in the 2024-25 season and a sectional championship. In the 2023-24 season, he helped lead Guerin Catholic to the semi-state championship game, where they lost to Scottsburg. In the 2022-23 season, he helped lead the Golden Eagles to the state championship game, where they lost to NorthWood.

Cardinal joins Azavier Robinson as Indianapolis-area players that committed to Butler in the Class of 2025.

He’s the son of former Purdue star Brian Cardinal. Brian averaged 12.0 points per game in his four-year career at Purdue. He was drafted in the second round (No. 44 pick). He played 12 seasons in the NBA for the Grizzlies, Mavericks, Timberwolves, Pistons, Warriors, and Wizards.
