Five state lawmakers each released statements following the shooting Friday at Noblesville West Middle School: State Representatives Kathy Kreag Richardson (R-Noblesville), Tony Cook (R-Cicero), Todd Huston (R-Fishers), Donna Schaibley (R-Carmel) and Jerry Torr (R-Carmel).
“The tragic events that took place at Noblesville West Middle School are a shock to the entire community, and I am saddened that some of our students have witnessed something so horrific firsthand. Thank you to every school official and first responder who acted bravely and quickly to secure the area. Noblesville is a strong community, and we will lean on each other in the coming days. Moving forward, I will work diligently with state and local leaders to review the situation to keep our students and community safe,” Richardson said.
“My heart goes out to the Noblesville community as they process this terrible event. As a former school administrator, it’s horrific to hear of this happening so close to home. I commend the first responders and school officials for their quick actions to contain the situation. Moving forward, I will continue to work hard to strengthen school safety and ensure our schools have access to the best resources available,” Cook said.
“It’s unimaginable what the students, educators and families are feeling after this morning. Thanks to the emergency personnel and school officials who responded quickly to secure the students. As we continue to make sense of this tragic situation, our communities will pull together and stand strong with Noblesville,” Huston said.
“Like many this morning, I’ve been closely watching the situation at Noblesville West Middle School unfold. I want to commend the school and first responders for their quick response and willingness to enter a dangerous situation to help protect these children,” Schaibley said.
“I want to thank the first responders that rushed to the scene and quickly gained control. The gestures of those from the public that arrived with food, water and other items for those first responders during the hours that followed shows the heart of this community and we will continue to rally in support of Noblesville,” Torr said.
