Five county players to play in Saturday’s individual regional

The IHSAA individual tennis tournament moves into the regional round on Saturday and there are five Hamilton County players involved – one singles player and two doubles teams.

One of those doubles teams is playing at Fishers. Junior Landon Osswald and senior Tyler Rich will take on the Shelbyville duo of sophomore Wyatt Armstrong and junior Aiden Smith in the first round of the Fishers regional, which begins at 10 a.m. The winner of that match will play the winner of the second match – an all-senior battle between Brownstown Central’s Lane Steward and Pierson Wheeler, and North Central’s Max Baltz and Ted Manion – at 2 p.m. for the championship.

The other doubles team is the Carmel duo of senior Michael Bao and sophomore Grant Mu. They will play at the La Porte regional, taking on the Lowell team of senior Cooper Benton and sophomore Dylan Bisacchi in one semifinal. The other semifinal will see the River Forest team of senior Ruben Perez and junior Macario Ramirez take on Seeger sophomores James Cooksey and Macyn Hughes. The semifinals take place at 10 a.m. Central time (11 a.m. Eastern) with the championship at 2 p.m. (3 p.m. Eastern).

In singles play, Westfield junior Parker Paramoure takes on East Noble junior Ettore Bona in the lone semifinal match at Kokomo, which begins at 10 a.m. The winner faces Fairfield senior Garrett Stoltzfus in the 2 p.m. championship, the unbeaten Stoltzfus (22-0) received a bye into the championship.

Regional champions advance to the state finals, which take place next weekend (Oct. 25 and 26) at North Central.
