Fishers softball cruises past Mavericks, 10-2

The Fishers softball team cruised to a 10-2 win over McCutcheon in a Friday away game.
The Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning when Sophie Schoch hit a two-run single into center field. The Mavericks tied the game in the bottom of the inning, and the score would stay 2-2 until the fifth inning, when Fishers got going for four runs.
Hannah Mays got the Tigers back in front with an RBI hit into right field to send in Olivia Latimer. Later, Nyah Duplessis and Kaylee Kardash scored after Emily Walsh reached on error. Abby Gavin hit a double to score Walsh.
Latimer blasted a home run over center field in the sixth inning to get Fishers ahead 7-2. The Tigers then added three more runs in the seventh inning: Walsh doubled home Kardash, then was scored by a Sydney Abel hit. Brooke Johnson came in to run for Abel, and would score on Latimer’s single.
Latimer finished 4-for-5 at the plate, including a homer and two doubles. Kardash was 3-for-4 and also hit a double. Mays pitched a complete game, striking out 10.
The Tigers are 2-0 and play Bloomington South and Columbus East today.
