It’s been a big week for Fishers’ Morgan Lewis.
Earlier this week, the Tigers senior-to-be committed to continue her golf career at Ball State University. On Tuesday, Lewis followed that up by winning the Indiana Golf Foundation’s Southern Junior Masters, which took place at Sultan’s Run Golf Course in Jasper.
Lewis finished with a two-day, 36-hole score of 154, making one birdie each on both days. Next in line was Margaret Wentz, a senior-to-be at Westfield, who was the runner-up with a 156. Wentz totaled three birdies for her two rounds.
Fishers had three more girls in the Top 10. Kennedy Brooker placed fifth and Sophia Alexander tied for sixth; both will be Tiger seniors in a few weeks. Brooker had two birdies for the tournament. Sydney Hruskoci, a Fishers resident who will be a senior at Cathedral, also was part of the tie for sixth place. She had seven birdies over the two-day event.
In the boys competition, Carmel junior-to-be Cole Harris tied for sixth, with four birdies over the tournament. Fishers junior-to-be Daivic Akala tied for eighth; he had three birdies and made an eagle on hole No. 9 in his second round. Incoming Carmel freshman Shoji Fujita also tied for eighth, making four birdies.
