Fishers Health Dept.: Details not yet certain on COVID booster shots

The Fishers Health Department reminds residents that while you may have heard about COVID-19 vaccine booster shots on the news or in the media, the Indiana Department of Health has not yet released details about booster shot availability for the general public.

In Fishers, details will be communicated once they are available via email and the Fishers Health Department Facebook and Twitter pages.

Third dose available for immunocompromised individuals

Currently, an additional dose of Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised:

  • The third dose must be given at least 28 days after the second dose.
  • A doctor’s order is not necessary, but verbal confirmation of eligibility is required.
  • A person should NOT receive more than three total mRNA vaccine doses.
  • Same vaccine as the first two doses should be used for the additional dose. If unknown, either mRNA COVID-19 vaccine product may be administered.
