The Fishers basketball teams split a Hoosier Crossroads Conference girls-boys doubleheader Friday at Brownsburg.
The Tigers girls made a fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Bulldogs 54-49. Fishers led 15-10 after one quarter, with Alycia Triplett scoring seven points. Brownsburg cut into that lead in the second period, but the Tigers still led 29-27 at halftime, with Hailey Smith and Allison Scheu each making a 3-pointer.
The Bulldogs pulled ahead 42-40 in the third quarter, but Fishers’ defense stepped up in the fourth, holding Brownsburg to seven points. Hailey Smith nailed two triples in the quarter, with Olivia Smith also draining a 3 to help the Tigers get the win.
Hailey Smith finished with 16 points, including three 3-poiners, while Triplett had 11 points.
In the boys game, Fishers fell to the Bulldogs 57-51. The score was tied at 17-17 after one quarter; Taden Metzger, Aidan Zimmer and Keenan Garner all hit 3s for the Tigers. But Brownsburg outscored Fishers 15-5 in the second quarter to take a 32-22 halftime lead.
The Tigers blasted back in the third period, pouring in 21 points to go up 43-42. Metzger nailed two more 3s and added a free throw for seven points, with JonAnthony Hall also scoring seven points, including a triple. Brownsburg came back in the fourth, holding Fishers to eight points.
Hall led the Tigers with 14 points, with Metzger scoring 13, including four 3s.
The Fishers girls are 4-1 in the conference and 16-2 overall, and play at Carmel on Tuesday. The Tigers boys are 1-2 in HCC play and 7-8 overall, and return to the Tiger Den next Friday to host Avon in another conference game.
