Addison Brubaker, a senior at Manchester High School in northeastern Indiana, has earned a $1,000 scholarship from Indiana Estate & Elder Law that will aid in her expenses this fall while attending Purdue University to major in finance and minor in Spanish.

In her application, Brubaker detailed how she would split her imaginary estate if she had no family or heirs.

“I would dedicate my estate to philanthropic causes – particularly education, agriculture, and medical research,” wrote Brubaker. “… I believe if someone has the means to give back, they should. Whether through financial support or time, everyone has something to contribute. I hope my legacy would inspire others to give, support, and create opportunities for the generations to come.”

Brubaker heard about the scholarship from her mother who read about it in the newspaper.

Following her receipt of the scholarship, Brubaker had a message for hopeful 2026 scholarship applicants: “Do not be intimidated by the essay. Try your best and even if the outcome is not satisfactory to you, at least you got the experience of filling out the application.”

Applications for the 2026 Indiana Estate & Elder Law scholarship can be found at IndianaEstateElderLaw.com/scholarship. The deadline will be posted.
