Fishers Arts Council (FAC) is holding its second annual Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County Artists, sponsored by Jiffy Lube of Indiana.

This exhibit is free and open to the public beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7. There also will be a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept 10 at the Art Gallery at City Hall, 1 Municipal Drive, Fishers. The reception will include music, refreshments, and adult beverages.

Steve Sanner, President of Jiffy Lube of America, again has stepped up to be the corporate sponsor for this event. Sponsoring the event involves covering the cost of cash prizes for the winning juried artists, event advertising and more. FAC is excited to continue its partnership with Jiffy Lube of Indiana, as it has been a major arts supporter throughout Indiana.

New this year as an awards sponsor is Cori Drudge of Ruoff Mortgage. Cori will sponsor the third-place award along with the Cori Drudge People’s Choice award. Drudge is a Senior Loan Officer with Ruoff.

As noted above, the community gets a say as well.

“I think it’s fun for the those who visit the gallery to get to select their favorite piece from the exhibit. We’ll tally up the votes the night of the reception and see who wins,” said FAC Executive Director Les Reinhardt.

Again this year, the arts council will host the art gallery on the FAC website, in addition to the live gallery. Reinhardt says that those who can’t visit in person can vote for their favorite at fishersartscouncil.org Sept. 6-9. The awards ceremony will broadcast live on the FAC Facebook page.

The online gallery will go live starting Monday, Sept. 6. Guests can visit the gallery in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays during the Fishers Farmers’ Market. You can see the current online gallery at FishersArtsCouncil.org/art-gallery-exhibit.

This event is one of FAC’s annual fundraisers for the arts organization. Artists pay a fee to enter, and a juror reviews their works digitally before deciding if they will be part of the exhibit. Once chosen, artists bring their art to the gallery where the juror reviews the art in person, and selects winners based on their skill and presentation. The juror for 2021 is Jerry Smith, selected by Fishers Arts Council board member Pat Grabill.
