The Fishers Arts Council held an awards ceremony for the winners of its first-ever Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County artists, sponsored by Jiffy Lube of Indiana. The ceremony was held this past Friday evening at The Art Gallery at Fishers City Hall. Mayor Scott Fadness and Steve Sanner, President of Jiffy Lube of Indiana, gave out the awards.
The First Place Winner was Stephanie Spay of Noblesville for her painting, “The Art of Family.” Stephanie received a cash award of $500. The Second Place Winner was Matt Hurdle of Westfield for his painting, “My Simple Quiet Place.” He received a cash award of $250. The Third Place Winner was Craig Ogden of Noblesville for his painting, “Each Other.” He received a cash award of $150. The People’s Choice Award went to Jodi Monroe of Fishers for her painting, “Waiting for the Call.” She received a cash award of $100.
The exhibit remains on display at The Art Gallery at City Hall from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until the end of October. You can also see the exhibit in a virtual gallery at fishersartscouncil.org/art-gallery-exhibit.
It is intended that this juried exhibit will become an annual fundraiser for the arts organization. Artists pay a fee to enter and jurors review their works digitally before deciding if they can be part of the exhibit. Once selected, artists bring their art to the gallery where the jurors review the art in person and select winners based on their skill and presentation.
Jiffy Lube of Indiana stepped up to sponsor this event and they have agreed to sponsor the event again in 2021. Jiffy Lube of Indiana now has 50 locations, with the newest location in Fishers at 13855 Olivia Way, just off of Interstate 69 Exit 210.
