Fishers Arts Council goes virtual for June

Hammond

Janosky

The Fishers Arts Council will celebrate two artists in June in a virtual gallery tour. The artists are Michael Janosky and Jacque Hammond. A highlight of the month will be an online interview with Michael at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and Jacque Hammond the following week, at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19.

Janosky’s exhibit is the premier of a portion of the body of work he created because of his 2018 Artist-in-Residence at Indiana Dunes National Park in 2018. The time to explore, observe, and contemplate was the foremost purpose of his residency and provided the inspiration for a series of oil paintings.

He is looking forward to share, from an artist’s perspective, the unique, varied and distinctive characteristics of Indiana’s first National Park. The exhibit will also feature other related works of the Indiana Dunes and Lake Michigan at fishersartscouncil.org/art-gallery-exhibit.

Hammond’s exhibit is a whimsical journey. She sees herself as a “Jacque-of-all-trades,” with many avenues and opportunities to draw on her creativity.

After attending Herron School of Art with a concentrated study of painting, drawing, and lithography, she pursued a career as a graphic designer. However, she didn’t lose the desire to pursue what she calls her “fine arts side.” To rekindle this love, she maintained a studio in Carmel for nearly 20 years. “I’ve found that the best way to continue to grow, create, and experience life as an artist is to say ‘yes’ to the opportunities that come across your path.”

Jacque is a 15-year resident of Fishers where she has exhibited in the past at The Art Gallery at City Hall. She is also the artist of the Mille Bornes and Straight-On Monon designs on the electrical boxes in the Nickel Plate District of downtown Fishers.
