The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced it has awarded $4,290 to the Fishers Arts Council (FAC) through the Arts Project Support grant program.

During its Quarterly Business Meeting on June 25, IAC approved funding recommendations for the Arts Project Support and Arts Organization Support grant programs. Over 590 applications were reviewed by 167 Hoosiers from around the state specializing in arts, community development, and finance.

“The projects and organizations that are receiving funding have major positive impacts on the cultural, economic, and educational climate of Indiana,” said IAC Chair Alberta Barker. “The Commission is impressed at the work being done around the state and is excited to support investment in Hoosier communities.”

“This is the third year IAC has provided FAC with this grant which is used to support our Spark! of Creativity Series in June, November and December,” according to FAC President Tom Rich.

“Spark! of Creativity pays artists to engage with residents of Fishers to spark their creativity in a variety of mediums such as glass, acrylic, woodworking, performing arts, and more,” according to FAC Executive Director Les Reinhardt.

This funding allows FAC to pursue its mission to support, advocate and cultivate visual and performing arts opportunities that educate, enhance and/or enrich the lives of those who live, work and visit Fishers. The series is done in conjunction with the City of Fishers during the city’s Spark!Fishers, Shop Fishers and Winter Wonderland activities.

“From the smallest rural communities to the largest cities, we see arts and creativity improving quality of life and driving economic development, and this funding will support the projects and organizations around the state at the heart of this progress,” said IAC Executive Director Lewis Ricci. “It is an honor to support work that is strengthening the fabric of Indiana communities.”

Funding for IAC and its programs is provided by the Indiana General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. FAC is appreciative of Senator Mike Braun and Senator Todd Young along with Representative Victoria Spartz for their efforts in supporting this program through the IAC and the NEA.
