Fishers Arts Council (FAC) has announced the winners of the 13th annual Senior Showcase sponsored by STAR Bank. Senior Showcase is an annual event where seniors at both Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern high schools exhibit their artwork and compete for 19 scholarship awards totaling approximately $3,000.

The awards were presented Friday evening, April 22 at the Art Gallery at City Hall during a reception and awards ceremony. Fishers City Council President Todd Zimmerman and STAR Bank Community Relations Manager Marquisha Bridgeman presented the awards. Ms. Catherine Snider also presented a special award, “Best Art Reflecting Poetry or the Written Word,” in memory of her daughter Jordan D. Snider.

The top award for Best in Show went to Grace Vandiver (HSE) for her artwork titled Avarice. The evening’s other big winner was Grace Lux (FHS) for her artwork titled True Self. She won the award for “Best Art Reflecting Poetry or the Written Word.”

“The creative talent shared by our Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern high school seniors never ceases to amaze me,” FAC Executive Director Les Reinhardt said. Reinhardt said she couldn’t agree more with the exhibit’s guest judge this year, Nickel Plate Arts Executive Director Aili McGill. “[Judging this show] was an exceptionally difficult task. The amount of talent exhibited this year was really breathtaking.”

“This show would not be possible without the talent and dedication of our incredible visual arts teachers at both high schools,” FAC Board Vice President Tom Rich said after the awards ceremony. “We are incredibly lucky to have these individuals educating and supporting our students. There are none better.”
