Fast start sends Rocks past Huskies

Westfield won an all-county game at Hamilton Heights on Friday, by the score of 75-57.

The Class 4A No. 6 Shamrocks jumped out to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter. Rylan Rauch made two 3-pointers for six points, with Durante Morton also scoring six. Westfield led 37-23 at halftime, with Will Harvey and Brock Detamore scoring five second-quarter points each. Gavin Saunders scored seven points for the Huskies in the second.

Drew Haffner stepped up for the ‘Rocks in the third quarter, nailing two 3s on his way to eight points. Westfield led 58-39 going into the fourth; Morton helped the Shamrocks finish the game by scoring seven points in that quarter. Saunders had eight points in the fourth.

Morton led the way with 19 points, followed by Harvey and Haffner with 13 each. Brock Detamore added 10 points for Westfield.

Saunders led Heights with 18 points, while Jack Kakasuleff scored 12. Chris Nobbe had four rebounds.

The Shamrocks are 15-3 and host University Tuesday in another all-county game. The Huskies are 11-7 and play at Lebanon tonight.
