Noblesville got out to a fast start and that led the Millers to victory in an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Westfield Saturday afternoon.
Noblesville beat the Shamrocks 59-41 at The Rock. The Millers jumped out to an 18-6 lead after the first quarter, then enjoyed a 31-14 halftime lead.
“I thought we played well on both ends of the floor,” said Noblesville coach Donna Buckley. “We did a great job of playing off of Emily (Kiser). They double- and triple-teamed her. She did an excellent job of passing out of that and our kids did a great job of finishing.”
Three Miller players scored in double figures. Mallory Johnson poured in 19 points, while Kiser added 12 and Abby Haley contributed 10. Kiser reached her customary double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds and also dished out five assists.
Maddie Knight corralled seven rebounds, with Olivia Morales and Haley each collecting six.
Freshman Gigi Eldredge was the leading scorer for the ‘Rocks with eight points. Eldredge and Megan Rops both had five rebounds.
The win put Noblesville at 2-3 in the conference and 7-6 overall, while Westfield dropped to 2-2 in the league and 9-5 overall.
The Millers return home to The Mill on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. game with Northwestern, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 3A. The Shamrocks will play again Tuesday at The Rock, taking on Anderson in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
