The City of Westfield hold a memorial service to honor Corporal Humberto Sanchez with the dedication of his memorial stone in the Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial. Cpl. Sanchez, from Logansport, was killed on Aug. 26 by a suicide bomber while serving in Afghanistan.
The service will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 at Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial, 401 N. Union St., Westfield. Additional parking will be available at Christ United Methodist Church.
During the service, a memorial stone will be dedicated and a heroes candle will be lit in his memory. Present at the service will be the family of Cpl. Sanchez.
The Fallen Hoosier Heroes Memorial honors those killed after 9/11 in the line of duty as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. As this mission is now complete, Cpl. Sanchez’s name will be the final one added in this memorial.
