The Alcove at the Fishers Art Gallery will reopen this month, featuring the artwork of Michelle Feeney. A reception for Michelle Feeney will be held from to 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 10 at The Art Gallery at City Hall in conjunction with the reception for the Hamilton County Artists’ Association.
The Alcove at the Art Gallery at City Hall is a space dedicated to artists to exhibit their work for a three-month period. Each year, the Fishers Arts Council selects four artists to use this space for their exhibits.
Feeney’s artwork will be on display through Sept. 30. It will also be accessible on the Fishers Arts Council webpage as part of the virtual gallery.
Feeney is a teacher at Fall Creek Junior High School. She shares her love for the arts with them. She tries to capture the raw beauty of natural objects and landscapes from different perspectives. She exaggerates the use of color and texture through the layering of paint. These bold patterns and lines created by the impasto of the paint creates a visual movement that easily take you in and out of her paintings.
Feeney lives in Fishers with her husband and three daughters. She is entering her 15th year of teaching and currently is the Art Department Chair at Fall Creek Junior High School. She graduated from Indiana University and received her Master of Arts at Anderson University.
