From Oct. 7 to Oct. 10, don’t be surprised if you hear a stampede of little feet in the Downtown Noblesville area.
That’s because Nickel Plate Arts’ Welcome to Fairyville event is back for its eighth year. Originally scheduled for April of this year, the event was rescheduled for October. Residents are expected to build dozens of fairy houses on the Fairy Trail along the White River riverwalk. Many downtown merchants will feature fairy doors outside their buildings in an effort to bring some magic inside. Magical socially-distant-friendly events have been planned throughout the Downtown Noblesville area.
Nickel Plate Arts’ Executive Director Ailithir McGill explained how the Welcome to Fairyville event has been modified, but will still be full of wonder.

“This year’s Welcome to Fairyville event is unique for several reasons,” McGill said. “For one thing, this is the first time the event has ever been held in the fall, and we will have the benefit of beautiful fall foliage and the excitement of Halloween being just around the corner. Also, we are working hard to add more interactive elements to our Fairy Trail for Oct. 9 and 10, including nature-themed stations, which will include self-directed activities designed to be safe during COVID-19 restrictions.”
Welcome to Fairyville is a perennial family favorite activity, and Downtown Noblesville partners enjoy getting in on the fairy merriment. Dozens of artists and merchants come together to bring the event to life. Families and fairy-fans can find a lot of great activities during this year’s event. Not only can participants search for fairy houses and fairy doors along our trail, but several locations in Noblesville will be hosting fairy-themed activities.
Fairy friends can paint pottery at Kiln Creations, or reserve a time to create crafts or pick up a craft kit at Caravan Classes. Nickel Plate Arts will also have a pick-up craft and a selfie station on its campus, and Lil Bloomers will be hosting story time on the sidewalk at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day, as well as offering fun craft options. Hamilton County Artists’ Association will have a card-making craft to pick-up and will be demonstrating how to spin wool and silk. If parents need to unwind, they can participate in Fairy Yoga with their toddler in Seminary Park at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
