The Sheridan Historical Society museum recently hosted the North Adams Extension Homemakers, who were given a tour of the new museum facility by Historical Society President Ron Stone.
Stone was able to demonstrate the nearly-completed model train exhibit running around the inside of the building as well as the Larry Hobbs Era basketball exhibit that is essentially complete. The museum also has the old 1908 Black automobile plus numerous other antiques many of which relate back to the earlier days in Sheridan’s history. One of the major displays, which is still a work in progress, is a display of the composite senior class pictures dating back to 1905.
The museum, located in the old Hippodrome movie house at 315 S. Main St., is open with a docent on hand from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday afternoons for drop-in visits. Special tours can be arranged on other days by calling the museum at (317) 758-5054.
Members of the Sheridan community and out-of-towners alike are encouraged to visit the museum to see how the Sheridan Historical Society is helping to transform Main Street in Sheridan.
