Hoosiers can listen to an hour-long online interview of DNR director Dan Bortner from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13.
The program, sponsored by the Indiana Parks Alliance and hosted by its president, Tom Hohman, will be a conversation about Bortner’s experiences as director of Indiana State Parks from 2005 to 2020 and his current work as DNR director since being appointed by Gov. Eric Holcomb in late July 2020.
The evening will highlight some current projects in DNR’s divisions of state parks and nature preserves as well as provide information about future DNR initiatives and programs.
Advance registration is free but required. Register to receive a Zoom link by emailing meetings@indianaparksalliance.org.
Bortner was Indiana State Parks’ director from 2005 to 2020. During his tenure, Indiana State Parks celebrated its centennial in 2016, completed a goal to establish a dedicated nature preserve in each state park, placed an increased emphasis on natural resources management and restoration, improved numerous facilities and services across the system, and managed sites through the COVID-19 crisis and kept them open and available for Hoosiers to enjoy.
The Indiana Parks Alliance is an independent charitable organization that supports and advocates for Indiana State Parks and Nature Preserves and the people they serve through education, promotion, fundraising and assistance for local Friends groups.
