Community members invited to roll up their sleeves & help save lives across Indiana
Versiti Blood Center of Indiana is partnering with several Indiana EMS organizations to participate in a national initiative promoting blood donation and hosting blood drives during EMS Week 2025, taking place from May 18 to 24.
These events are part of a nationwide effort to maintain a reliable blood supply for patients needing transfusions, whether in hospitals or prehospital settings.
EMS Week recognizes the vital role of emergency medical services in public health and emergency response. By hosting blood drives, participating organizations aim to increase local blood supplies and raise awareness about the critical work EMS providers do to support emergency care and community health.
“Blood can save lives in situations where every second counts,” said Penny Schroeder, area vice president at Versiti. “We encourage community members to donate – you might need this life-saving resource someday, or someone you love might.”
Locally, you can donate blood from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 23 at the Fishers Fire Department, at 2 Municipal Drive.
Anyone aged 17 or older who is in good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to give. Parental consent is required for donors who are 16 years old to donate blood. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes their birth date.
Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome. To schedule an appointment to donate blood, call (317) 916-5150 or visit Versiti.org/Indiana.
