Emma “Peg” Lee Williams, 83, Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at her home. She was born on March 21, 1937 to Charles and Mabel (Nunn) Loller in Jeffersonville, Ind.
She moved in with her grandparents when she was six years old, Joe and Maud Piper, the parents of Jimmy and Betty Piper, who helped raise her. Peg went to school in Westfield until she married a Shaffer. She worked for Firestone for 27 years and during that time met and married David Williams. Peg was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for 20 years and spent the last 20 years as a member of Noblesville Baptist Church.
Peg was a great artist. She painted, knitted, crocheted, and sewed sweaters and hats for newborns at her church and never asked for anything in return. Peg raised flowers, grew gardens, and was a great fisherman. She treated everybody the same. Peg’s family is going to miss her.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David Williams; sons, Gary Shaffer and Jimmy Shaffer; stepdaughter, Barbara (Michael) Williams Thatcher; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren living in different states
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tracy Shaffer; daughter, Sharon Shaffer; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, with Pastor Seth Leeman and Pastor DeWayne Chadwick officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
