The 50th annual Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest will take place on Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Noblesville Boys and Girls Club.
The doors open at 10:30 a.m. for registration and warm-ups, with competition beginning at 11 a.m. Contestants compete in one of six divisions: Boys ages 8-9, Girls 8-9, Boys 10-11, Girls 10-11, Boys 12-13 and Girls 12-13. Contestants must be one of those ages on April 1, 2022 to compete in their prospective category. (For example, a contestant must be age 8 or 9 on that date to compete in the 8-9 age group, and so forth.)
The participants will shoot 25 free throws to determine a local Elks Lodge Champion. The six winners will qualify to advance to the District competition.
Six of the local Elks Lodge’s winners have advanced from this level to win at the district competition, then advance to state, regional and national competition. Ryan Cline, a state champion at Carmel and star at Purdue University, won the national championship in 2010.
