May 4, 1943 – February 12, 2022
Elizabeth Ann (Haskett) Trietsch, 78, Home Place, passed away in her home on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Elizabeth “Betty Ann,” or “Liz” as she later became known, was born in Hamilton County on May 4, 1943, to William and Aletha (Games) Haskett, the sixth of their seven children. She grew up in western Clay Township, graduating from Carmel High School in 1961.
In her senior year, Liz met the love of her life, Jon Leon Weikal (later changed to Trietsch). They were married in White Chapel Church on November 19, 1961 and shared 51 years of marriage before his passing in 2013.
Upon his retirement, Jon opened Trietsch Workshop where Liz worked at caning chairs while Jon repaired furniture. They enjoyed working together until 2011. Elizabeth reveled in baking cookies for the police and fire departments at Christmas time, as well as sharing with friends and neighbors.
Sharing the wonders and experiences of life with her children brought so much love and joy to Liz. She became “Grandma” to five of the neighbor’s daughters, Amy, Heather, Melissa, Amy and Angie. She dearly loved each one.
In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Jon; three brothers, Douglas, George, and Philip Haskett; and two sisters, Julia “Judy” Hohl and Patricia “Patty” Monroe.
Elizabeth is survived by her three children, Beverly (Dan) Palmer of Vancouver, Wash., Jon D. Trietsch of Churubusco, Ind., and Aletha “Annie” Trietsch of Home Place; grandsons, Ryan Palmer and Jonathan Dennison; brother, William Haskett of Carmel; sister-in-law, Joan (William) Ball of Carmel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her.
Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at White Chapel Church, 5155 E. 116th St., Carmel, where the Funeral Service will begin at noon. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery.
