Edward T. Schreiner, 77, Cicero, formerly of Florida, passed away on November 15, 2022, at Bridgewater Healthcare Center in Carmel.
He was born on March 12, 1945, in Indianapolis to Tramer and Charlotte (Norton) Schreiner. He attended Marion County schools and graduated from Arlington High School with the Class of 1963. He then honorably served his country during the Vietnam War as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy. Ed was recognized for his military service on November 14, 2022, when he was presented the Military Service Coin by LCDR D.C. Mills U.S.N.
After serving his country, he entered into the auto parts sales business and became a partner of the B&C Engine Service Company in Cicero. This is where he used his Navy machinist training for precision building of performance engines.
Ed, as he was fondly known, and his wife Joyce moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., in the mid-90s where he had a very successful career representing Cox Lumber Company in the custom home building industry. Returning to Indiana in late 2009, Ed returned to the auto parts business representing Circle City Auto Parts of Indianapolis.
After Ed retired, he found a home at Lakeview Marina in Noblesville where he used his passion for boats to sell power boats around the Morse Reservoir area. He also enjoyed doing car restorations. Ed was a Corvette enthusiast, and his many Corvettes were proof of his passion for them. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends. Ed could be humorous, sarcastic, cantankerous, and also generous. He was loved by his friends and honorary family members and will be sorely missed.
He married the love of his life, Joyce Ann (Dean) Schreiner, in 1972. She preceded him in death in 2009. His parents also preceded him in death.
Cicero American Legion will provide Military Funeral Rites at noon on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, followed by Rev. Jody Brown speaking. A time of visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the Military Service at noon. Burial will occur at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens south of Fishers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, or the Humane Society for Hamilton County.
