Edgar Earl Irion

Edgar Earl Irion, 98, Strawtown, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Edgar was born in Strawtown on April 7, 1926, to the late John and Loretta (Hughes) Irion.

Edgar attended Walnut Grove High School and graduated with the class of 1944. Edgar entered the United States Army as a Paratrooper and proudly served our country during the end of World War II. Edgar returned home to work on the family farm, which he ran until retirement. Edgar was a proud member of the Free Masons for over 50 years and was inducted into Noblesville Lodge #57 in 1955. He was a member of the Cicero American Legion and the A.S.C.S. (Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation Services). Edgar served as the President of the School Board and was a vital part of consolidating the surrounding schools into Hamilton Heights High School in 1965. In his free time, he enjoyed flying his plane, fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and traveling. Edgar enjoyed traveling so much that he took the time to travel around the world and visited over 20 countries on his journeys. He was an avid Colts and ABA Pacers fan and loved a good card game of Euchre.

Edgar is survived by his son, Kevin Irion and (Shelly Lyons) of Cicero; daughter, Lyndia Irion of Kapaa, Hawaii; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, John & Loretta Irion; sons, Rex Irion & Stanley Irion; sisters, Eva Lawson, Ella Sutch, Ethel Molina, Ina McKinney, and Iona Meeks.

Visitation for Edgar will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at Arcadia Christian Church, 26901 State Road 19, Arcadia. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Arcadia Christian Church, with Andrew Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Carey Cemetery, Noblesville.
