Driver seriously injured in single-car Fishers crash

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team is investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in serious injury on Saturday morning.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 19, a sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for excessive speed in the area of 141st Street and Jennings Farm Lane, just east of Cumberland Road. The 2017 red Hyundai Elantra continued south on Jennings Farm Lane at a high rate of speed, leaving the street and crashing into a home in the 10300 block of Parkshore Drive.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Brandon T. Cornelius, 26, Fishers, was injured and unconscious at the scene of the crash. He was taken by ground ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital on 86th Street with injuries reported as fractures and dislocations. The home, which was occupied at the time of the crash, sustained extensive damage; however, the occupants of the residence were not injured during the incident.

The incident is under investigation by the Hamilton County Crash Team with charges against the driver pending at this time. Anyone with information regarding the incident should call the Crash Team at (317) 773-1282.
