Mark Roark, O.D., has been awarded the Meritorious Service Award, which is given to a member of the Indiana Optometric Association (IOA) in recognition for service to the profession of optometry in a specific category or categories.
The award was presented at Indiana Optometry’s Meeting, the Association’s 127th annual convention, on April 19 at the Embassy Suites in Noblesville.
Recently retired, Dr. Roark practiced optometry at Allisonville Eye Care Center in Fishers. He was honored for his contributions to the profession, notably school screenings and international mission work, as well as his role for the past 10 years as the optometry representative for the Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee for the state of Indiana.
Dr. Roark has provided mobile eye care services in Bolivia, Honduras, Jamaica, Haiti, and Dominica, and has offered eye care to assisted living residents in Indianapolis for over two decades.
Founded in 1897, the Indiana Optometric Association is the voice of Doctors of Optometry in service to the eye and vision care needs of the citizens of Indiana.
