Dr. Brittain E. Lukens III, 80, of McCordsville, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 17, 1936 to the late Brittain E. Lukens Jr. and Madelon (Callenbach) Lukens in Woodbury, New Jersey.
Brittain proudly served his country as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force during peace time. He graduated from Eastern Baptist College with a BS degree, and from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. For 40 years, Brittain worked as a chiropractor, owning Lukens’ Chiropractic in Versailles, Indiana for 35 years, and in McCordsville for 5 years, retiring in December of 2016. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was an ordinance worker in the LDS Temple of Chicago, Louisville, and Indianapolis, and served a 2-year LDS mission as the leader of an addiction recovery group. Brittain was a member of the International Chiropractor’s Association of Indiana, and was dedicated to family, church, and chiropractic.
He is survived by his wife, Linda R. Lukens; children, Laura (Christopher) Ault, Ed (Sheri) Lukens, and Nancy Watkins; step-children, Sally (James) Morgan, Steven (Linda) Greenfield, Amy (Sean) Buckley, Emily (Randy) Yoder, and Katie (Scott) Nickels; brother, John (Sandra) Lukens; sister, Nancy (Michael) Gould; 29 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Brittain was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta (Lori) Bushnell Lukens.
Visitation was on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary in Fishers. Services were held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fishers, with an additional visitation prior to the service. Bishop Mark Richmond officiated.
