Central Indiana will have not one but two opportunities to usher in the holidays with Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) under Artistic Director Janna Hymes as CSO presents its annual seasonal celebration, Holiday Pops!
Performances are scheduled for 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts, 1 Carter Green, Carmel. Tickets start at just $25 for adults and $10 for children and are on sale now at thecenterpresents.org/tickets or at the Palladium Fifth Third Bank Box Office by calling (317) 843-3800. Holiday Pops! is sponsored by IU North Hospital.
Appearing with the orchestra for Holiday Pops! will be multi-genre vocalist (and Carmel resident) Josh Kaufman, winner of NBC’s The Voice Season 6; popular Indy area vocalist Leah Crane; the NZ TapZ Tappers from Expressenz Dance Center, and the beloved Indianapolis Children’s Choir.
“Holiday Pops! is our annual musical gift to Central Indiana,” said CSO Artistic Director Janna Hymes, “and we’ve reimagined this year’s show to include not only the Carmel Symphony Orchestra performing your seasonal favorites but have also invited several of your favorite performers to join us.
Hymes continued, “Josh Kaufman is such an incredible talent, an outstanding musician and vocalist: the very definition of ‘local boy makes good,’ and we are excited to collaborate with him for this concert.
“Leah, of course, is extremely visible throughout the Indianapolis area and beyond as a solo artist as well as a vocalist with Pavel & Direct Contact, which recently performed with the orchestra on our Opening Night. The crowd loved her, and we are delighted to welcome her back to share the Palladium stage with us again.
“We’re so excited to bring the sensational NZ TapZ Tappers to the party, adding a whole new dimension to the performances that we think our audiences will really enjoy, and then, of course, what can you say about the marvelous Indianapolis Children’s Choir? We are absolutely thrilled to welcome these supremely talented youngsters to Holiday Pops! and add their voices to the celebration.
“It’s the perfect time to make an entire day of it here in Carmel – you can attend the matinee or evening Holiday Pops! performances, then right outside the door of the Palladium is the acclaimed Christkindlmarkt on Carter Green. The market is so much fun, with the vendors, the food, the ice skating. Together, it all makes for a pretty terrific holiday celebration, something all ages will enjoy.”
Abundant free parking is available in garages, nearby lots or curbside, all within easy walking distance of the Palladium. In addition to Christkindlmarkt, the area is dotted with numerous restaurants open for dining before or after the Holiday Pops! performances.
