July 16, 1937 – January 21, 2020
Doreene Billingsley, 82, Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 21, 2020 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. Born July 16, 1937 in Sheridan, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Harold and Gladys Ellen (Pursiful) Billingsley.
Shortly after graduating from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1956, Doreene took a secretarial position with Public Service of Indiana. This initial job opening would eventually grow into a 50-year career with the company, the last 20 of those years being spent as an office manager.
She was a longtime member of Hills Baptist Church, serving as their organist and pianist for over 45 years.
Doreene had a deep appreciation for flowers and loved fussing around in the garden. She was also very talented in the kitchen. Cooking seemed to come very naturally to Doreene, but baking was where she truly excelled. Her favorite part was always getting to share what she had made with friends and family.
Doreene loved her family very much, and that included her animals. Over the years she cared for more cats and critters than anyone in the family could name. There is a special place in Heaven for animal lovers; Doreene and Jo Jo are there helping take care of all the pets until they are reunited with their humans.
She is survived by her three brothers, Phillip Billingsley (Marie), Philadelphia, Pa., Don Billingsley of Arkansas, and Duane Billingsley (Sharon), Middletown; five nieces, Rita, Maria, Sherry, Mary Anne and Lora; two nephews, Steven and Scott; and by her sister-in-law, Anita Billingsley, Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harold Billingsley; sister-in-law, Jane Billingsley; two nephews, Bruce and Dennis; and by her beloved dog Jo Jo, who has patiently been waiting for Doreene to join her for 24 years.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Hills Cemetery in rural Clinton County. Pastor Charles Cole will be officiating.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I have many wonderful memories of family times together with all the kids, especially Thanksgiving dinners. My parents and her parents were best friends.
