Telamon Passport Series
Five-time Grammy-winning tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain returns to the Center in a duo with Rahul Sharma, master of the santoor, a 100-stringed hammered dulcimer common to India’s Jammu and Kashmir region. Their tour pays tribute to Sharma’s father, the late Shivkumar Sharma, a longtime Hussain collaborator credited with introducing the traditional folk instrument to Indian classical music. Hussain, considered one of the greatest tabla players of all time, is well-known in the West for his collaborations with rock, jazz and classical musicians. He is the founder and president of Moment. Records, an independent label presenting rare live concert recordings of Indian and world music.

Saxophonist and composer Boney James returns to the Palladium for an evening of R&B-inflected jazz. James was a sideman for such artists as Morris Day and the Isley Brothers before launching a solo career that has sent 11 albums to the top of Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. Among other honors in the course of his career, he has received a Soul Train Award, four Grammy Award nominations and three NAACP Image Award nominations. His new release, Slow Burn, includes contributions from singer-songwriter October London, bassist Marcus Miller, trumpeter Rick Braun and keyboardist Cory Henry.

The Piano Guys are pianist Jon Schmidt and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson, whose repertoire includes mashups of classical selections, pop tunes, film scores and original compositions. Joined by videographer Paul Anderson and music producer Al van der Beek, they launched a YouTube channel in 2011 that has drawn more than seven million subscribers with videos often featuring the players in exotic settings. Since his breakout role as Aaron Burr in the hit musical Hamilton, he has performed to sold-out crowds at venues including the Kennedy Center in D.C., Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and Lincoln Center in New York City. As a recording artist, he has released five full-length albums, including 2023’s When A Crooner Dies, a collection of 10 original tracks. On opening day of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt on the Center’s campus, experience the vibrant spirit of the season with Canadian Brass as they perform a lively blend of German brass music and holiday favorites. Hoosier Village & The Barrington of Carmel Songbook Series
Dionne Warwick is a six-time Grammy-winning music legend who has charted more than 75 hit songs and sold over 100 million records. Discovered by songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 1961, she went on to record 18 consecutive Top 100 singles, including “Walk On By,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Alfie,” “Heartbreaker,” “Déjà Vu” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” In 1985, she participated in recording “That’s What Friends Are For,” a global hit that generated support for AIDS research, as well as the all-star hunger charity single “We Are the World.” She received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019 and was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Luminaries: A Life of Art with Gregory Glade Hancock

Gregory Glade Hancock is Executive Director of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre, the resident professional dance company at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts. He will share his journey through a life of art, relating stories of how he surrounds himself with art and how he has taken personal experiences and challenges and transformed them into beauty. He will also discuss his creative process and how he draws inspiration from the world around him.
About the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts
The mission of the nonprofit Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts is to engage and inspire the Indiana community through enriching arts experiences. Its campus includes the 1,500-seat Palladium concert hall, the 500-seat Tarkington theater and the black-box Studio Theater. The Center presents and hosts hundreds of events each year, including the Center Presents performance series, featuring the best in classical, jazz, pop, rock, country, comedy and other genres.
