With a history dating to the 1890s, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra has been known since 1945 as the national orchestra of Bulgaria and remains one of that nation’s leading cultural institutions. Its repertoire comprises works from the entire historically available range of music – from classical to contemporary opuses, including premiere performances of numerous works by Bulgarian composers. The orchestra has won praise from audiences throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Since 2017, Nayden Todorov has served as its general director.

Program: Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Op. 62, Piano Concerto No. 5 in E Flat Major, Op. 73 (“Emperor”) with soloist Ivaylo Vassilev, and Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92

Aretha’s Gold: Classic Albums Live Tribute to Aretha Franklin
Saturday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m.

Juno Award-winning Canadian R&B singer Divine Brown recreates the magic of “The Queen of Soul” in this note-for-note, cut-by-cut performance of Aretha Franklin’s 1969 greatest hits album, Aretha’s Gold.

Classic Albums Live is a Toronto-based touring concert series that specializes in performances of classic rock and pop albums, focusing not on costumes or interpretations, but rather on faithful renditions of the recordings performed by top musicians. Aretha’s Gold included such hits as “Respect,” “Chain of Fools,” “Think” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

Live at the Center: Peyton Womock Band

Saxophonist Peyton Womock is known for innovative cover interpretations as well as original compositions that cross genres from smooth jazz and funk to hip hop and pop. His videos on X, YouTube, and Instagram have attracted more than a million impressions, and he also brings a unique perspective on music technology through his Indiana University studies in Informatics with a cognate in music. Peanut Butter & Jam: Spring Animal Babies with Silly Safaris
