Duke Energy & Lions make future readers the focus of latest gifts
Three recent donations to the Westfield Library Foundation (WLF) will help outfit the Children’s Department at the new library building on the southwest corner of Park and Poplar streets.
The Duke Energy Foundation, a steadfast supporter of community initiatives, has generously donated $4,000 to fund the installation of an interactive light wall in the Children’s Department. This innovative addition promises to create an engaging and educational space for young minds to explore and learn.

“Duke Energy is proud to support the new Westfield Washington Library, which will serve as a vital resource hub and gathering space for the community,” Duke Energy Government & Community Relations Manager Mark LaBarr said. “This grant will help create a fun and inviting space in the Children’s Department that we hope will inspire a lifelong love of reading.”
The Westfield Lions Club has stepped forward with a $5,000 donation earmarked for a new computer table. This contribution aligns with the Lions Club’s dedication to community service and childhood literacy.
“The Westfield Lions Club has always looked for ways to serve and support the citizens of Westfield,” Club Secretary Jeff Larrison said. “The new Westfield Washington Library is going to be a game changer in our community and the Lions Club felt it was especially important for us to be part of that.”

Pence Media Group (PMG) joins the cause by contributing a Pluie self-sanitizing changing station. Pluie, a PMG client, offers the world’s first and only self-sanitizing changing table for public restrooms.
“Pence Media Group is proud to bring a clean, safe and comfortable spot for library attendees to change their baby’s diapers with the sponsorship of Pluie,” Owner and Operator Nicole Pence Becker said. “PMG has been a big supporter of this innovative technology for several years, and, as a mom of four myself, I believe Pluie belongs in every public restroom for caregivers on the go!”
To extend the impact of PMG’s contribution, the Westfield Library Foundation invites community members to participate in funding the installation of two additional Pluie changing stations. Those interested in contributing can donate at this link.
WLF Executive Director Erin Downey expressed gratitude for the community support.

The much-anticipated new library building is slated to open in May 2024. The new space will provide additional parking, an expanded teen area, a massive community room, a coffee shop, as well as outdoor activity space.
