Der Polkatz, Indy’s polka band, delivered a delightful performance last Friday at Cool Creek Park, marking the final concert for the 30th season of Cool Creek Concerts. It rained slightly at the beginning of the concert, but that did not dampen the spirits of the audience, who were invigorated by the band’s energetic blend of polka, rock, and folk music from a variety of decades.
Der Polkatz played a variety of songs including crowd favorites like “Polka Never Dies” by the Dreadnoughts, “That’s Amore” by Dean Martin, and “25 or 6 to 4” by Chicago. The 13-person group vigorously sang while accompanied by an array of instruments including guitars, accordions, trumpets, trombones, and more, making for an upbeat and lively musical experience. Each song was met with enthusiastic cheers and dancing.
Der Polkatz’s performance was a triumphant conclusion to the 30th season of Cool Creek Concerts, proving that not even rain in the forecast could stop the music or the fun. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this season unforgettable. We look forward to seeing you next year!
