Hamilton County Sheriff Deputy Dan DeYoung recently graduated from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Leadership Academy. Over the past four months, DeYoung participated in the intensive course of study designed to immerse students in strategies and styles of great leaders. Participants learn leadership demands of “the leader, the led, and the organization,” and practice applying realistic leadership principles to numerous challenges. The college-level course required intensive study on top of DeYoung’s work schedule.

Great job Dan! Now bring back the servant-leadership they emphasized and employ it here. Don’t let the bureaucracy smother the lessons you learned.
