Dennis Lee Griffin, 83, Sheridan, passed away on September 11, 2023, at his home with his family and friends at his side.
He was born on May 29, 1940, in Cicero to Julian Edward and Mary Catherine (Widows) Griffin. He grew up in the Jackson Township area and graduated from Jackson Central High School, a consolidation of Cicero, Arcadia and Atlanta schools.
Dennis had worked for several years at Delco Remy in Anderson, Ind. He also was a police officer in Noblesville and Lapel, plus he had worked security duties at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
During leisure time he liked to golf and travel. He also liked to attend and compete in classic car shows. But, most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Surviving him is a son, Dennis Eugene (Pat) Griffin of Noblesville; daughters, Donna Gay Hall of Anderson, Ind., and Sabrina Michelle Griffin of Alexandria, Ind.; brothers, Lanny Griffin of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Rick Griffin of Cicero; sisters, Joan Stout of Nashville, Ind., and Noreen Ferguson of Cicero; significant other, Patty; plus 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents is a brother, Larry Griffin, and daughters, Tami Brewster and Beverly Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with burial to follow at Cicero Cemetery. A time of visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of the services.
