Growing a mustache during the month of November is a proclamation to the seriousness of men’s health. We had nearly half our department “let it grow, bro,” but without question one individual took the contest in a landslide.
It’s no surprise the winner was firefighter “pony” David Mulford, since he proudly wears his stache year-round. He takes men’s health seriously and looks glamorous while doing it.
November was so much more than just growing mustaches, though. The Carmel Fire Department had a walking team, with individuals doing 60 miles each during the month of November, for the 60 men a day who commit suicide.
Our first annual rising sun charity event at the “statue” raised over $2,000, which is being donated to Rollfast Cycling, a cycling club with an emphasis on mental fitness. Founder Matt Tanner is a testicular cancer survivor and his family has been directly affected by mental health issues. Additionally, he hosts classes in Carmel teaching kids to ride bicycles.
If you are looking for a place to find mental fitness along with physical fitness, we encourage you to check them out. They work with all levels of fitness. Visit rollfast.us for more information.
