Debra Ann Doane Adams

November 27, 1952 – February 18, 2022

Debra Ann Doane Adams, 69, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital with her children and family by her side. She was born in Indianapolis on November 27, 1952, to Orvel E. Doane and Mary Jane (Laufer) Harrison.

Debra was a graduate of Avon High School, Class of 1971. She later married the love of her life, Donald Adams, on October 2, 1971. She worked as an account rep. for EFS in Indianapolis for several years, along with later becoming a CNA. She thoroughly enjoyed providing home health care. She became a dedicated home maker who loved to cook, make candy, and crochet blankets for her loved ones.

Debra was a loving wife, mom and mamaw. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Debra was an avid reader, loved riding on the golf cart with her husband, spending time outdoors, vacationing on the beach and attending her grandchildren’s events. Debra was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Her heart and home were always open to everyone. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Debra is survived by her children, Donnie Ray Adams Jr. (Janette) and Angie Van Hook (Jason); grandchildren, Kenley and Ashley Adams, and Isabella, Olivia, Seth, and Sam Van Hook; siblings, Larry Doane (Jan), Sherry Gatti, Tommie Gribble (Brett), Judy Freeman (Todd), and Vickie Branch; several nieces and nephews; many cousins; and loving friends, Vicki Dillard and Judy Pickett.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald R. Adams; her parents listed above; her beloved sister, Sue Sadler; and stepfather, Tom Harrison.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Arcadia Christian Church, 26901 State Rte. 19, Arcadia, with a funeral service following. Reverend Byron Fritz officiated. Her ashes will be placed in her final resting place beside her husband at Hamilton Memorial Park by her family at a later date.
