May 1, 1945 – May 14, 2020
David Ryan Nee, 75, Fishers, passed away peacefully at IU North after a 33-day battle with COVID-19 on May 14, 2020. David was born May 1, 1945 to the late James K. and Ruth Nee in Richland Center, Wis.
David graduated from University of Platteville, Wis., where he played football. He was drafted in 1968 and served in the U.S. Army as Military Police in Japan. David was proud to be a Postal Inspector for the USPS from 1972 to 2002.
David and Jane met in Richland Center, Wis., and were married in 1970. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this coming September. They were blessed with a son, Jeff Nee (LeAnne) and a daughter, Betsy Baker (Jonathan). He loved his grandchildren, Isaac and Elliot Nee and Nathan, Brynn and Josh Baker. Together they have enjoyed so many family gatherings, holidays and Indy 500s. He is survived by nieces, Barbara Moore and Karen Frohwirth; son, James; brothers-in-law, Bruce Jacobson and Dave Jacobson (Debbie); niece, Jennifer (Charlie); and nephews, Chad (Jenna), Josh (Caroline) and Cody. His sister, Nancy (Dennis), and sister-in-law, Sharry, precede him in death. David also leaves behind many wonderful, loving friends.
David will be forever remembered for his beautiful white hair, his love for life, his big smile and the joy he brought to others. He was a great listener and a great friend. David loved playing tennis and helping at his church with the sound board, food pantry and mowing the lawn. He loved cheering on all his grandchildren at their sports or their hobbies. You could always count on David for a good joke, a great laugh and a great drink!
A Celebration of Life will be planned at Bethel Lutheran Church at a later date. David’s care has been entrusted to Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church Columbarium Project and Memorial Garden at 20650 Cumberland Road, Noblesville, IN 46062; or in support of nurses on the frontline fighting COVID-19 and who fought so hard for David at nursingworld.org/foundation/programs/coronavirus-response-fund.
