Ivy Tech Community College announces a new scholarship available to three students at its Hamilton County campus.
The David and Jacqueline Cox Scholarship will provide support to three students studying in the schools of Information Technology or Advanced Manufacturing, i.e. Welding. This scholarship aims to expand access to a diverse range of skilled trade professions that empower individuals to make a better living and lead improved lives.
David and Jacqueline Cox say they believe investing in education is an investment in the future to ensure a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous world for generations to come.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of David and Jacqueline,” said Dr. Rachel Kartz, Interim Chancellor of the Hamilton County campus. “Contributions such as theirs allow students to gain access to high quality post-secondary education that will launch them into sustainable careers.”
David and Jacqueline Cox are the former owners of Hare Chevrolet; a business that was in their family for 170 years. David and Jacqueline now hope that they can impact the next generation of leaders through their scholarship to support students.
David and Jacqueline’s daughter, Monica Peck, said she also believes in investing in education and is a strong supporter of Ivy Tech. Peck serves on the Board of Trustees for the Hamilton County campus and is a champion for the campus.
“I’m so excited my parents decided on Ivy Tech as a recipient of their charitable donation,” Peck said. “Ivy Tech plays such an important role in the success of many individuals and their communities all around the state of Indiana. My parents have always stressed the importance of giving back to the community in which live and instilled the practice of charitable giving in both my sister and me.”
The scholarship will be awarded to three students who are pursuing a degree, certificate, or credential at Ivy Tech Hamilton County. To qualify, students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). New classes began on Monday, Sept. 18.
