December 22, 1964 – February 25, 2025
With heavy and weary hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of David J. Chandler on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
David (Dave) was more than a beloved person; he was deeply cherished by his family and friends. Dave was a loving son and brother, admirable father and grandfather, adoring husband, and devoted friend. More so, Dave was a son of God and lived every day committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone around him. Dave and his surviving wife Sharon worked tirelessly to provide for their children and grandchildren and built a family together on a foundation of faith and unconditional love.
For many, Dave was a mentor, ensuring he invested in others and going above and beyond to lend a helping hand or a comforting hug. Dave, also known as Pap, had eight grandchildren and cherished each one deeply. Pap’s purpose was to teach his grandchildren about Jesus and how to love others as he did. Dave especially enjoyed camping with his family and playing ball with his beloved dog Ozzy.
Dave’s authentic self left lasting impressions in our hearts, and while his death feels sudden and unjustified, as a family we find solace in Dave’s never wavering faith in God and trust in God’s plan. We will forever relish the memories of Dave’s witty humor and charm, reminding ourselves of the passion he had for living life. We are now only left to honor Dave’s memory by sharing with others his eternal love for God and family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Chandler; children, Jason Chandler (Jordan), Megan Voorhies (Hayden), Nathan Chandler (Hope), Dianna McNutt (Joe), Marissa Davidson (Bret), Gabriella Mangin (Gage), and Isabella Mangin (Cole); grandchildren, Joselyn, Reese, Piper, Cooper, Damon, Coralee, Owen, Hudson; parents, John and Barb Chandler, of Elwood, Ind.; sister, Colleen Gallik (Richard); niece, Kayla Gallik of Brookfield, Ill.; brother, Robert Chandler (Nancy); nieces, Emily and Samantha Chandler; nephew, Jeffery Chandler of Huntley, Ill.; brother, Eric Chandler of Plano, Texas; nephews, Austin and Michael French of Muncie, Ind.; aunt, Judi Carey of Wheeling, Ill.; and cousin, Kristen Schmidt (Michael).
