Cynthia Marie Zaso

d. February 18, 2023

Cynthia Marie Zaso, 63, died at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel on February 18, 2023, in the presence of her beloved family after battling many years of debilitating illness.

Cindy, as she was fondly known, was born to Milt and Arlene Kilpatrick in Rochester, N.Y., where she graduated from Bishop Kearney High School in 1977. She later moved to Indiana where she raised her two children, Tony and Lyndsey, and became a part of the Hamilton Heights community. During that time Cindy met her husband of over 25 years, Jim Goodson. Cindy devoted her life to fostering relationships with family members and friends and was especially devoted to her husband and two children who she loved unconditionally and considered them the highlight of her life.

Later her focus turned to her four grandchildren. Cindy’s grandchildren were her pride and joy and what sustained her through her many years of health challenges. Even at her sickest times, she made it a priority to dance and sing with them, laugh with them, and establish a regular routine with each grandchild that gave them security and let them know they were deeply loved.

Most people who knew Cindy will remember her by her beautiful blue eyes along with her infectious smile and hearty laugh. She left an imprint on others by sharing her “never give up” outlook on life despite the tough battles she endured with her health challenges. Many also remember her for her crazy love of Halloween and Christmas yard decorations. They seemed to get bigger and more elaborate with each passing year. Cindy also had a love for the flowers she planted every spring and summer. She thought of caring for her potted plants as therapy for her soul. One of her favorite things to do was sit on her porch swing and enjoy the beauty of her flowers.

Cindy was the most courageous and toughest person that most people will ever meet. She was loved and respected by all who knew her, and will be deeply missed.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Tony and Lyndsey; grandchildren, Aidan, Addyson, Anthony, and T.J.; siblings, Debbi, Milt, Steve, Shari, and Chris.
