Cross country: Millers dominate HCC championships

The Noblesville cross country teams dominated their home course on Saturday, sweeping the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championships.

Both the Millers boys and girls team finished first at the meet, which took place at the Chinquapin Ridge Course at White River Elementary School. Noblesville’s boys held off Zionsville to get the win, while the Millers girls dominated, scoring 25 points.

The Noblesville boys scored 38 points, getting ahead of the Eagles by seven points. The Millers were led by Asher Propst, who won the race in 15 minutes, 14.9 seconds. Caden Click finished in third place and Jack Strong took sixth. Two more finishes in the top 16 by Alec Moor and Ronnie Neal closed Noblesville’s scoring early.

Fishers placed fourth as a team by scoring 95 points. The Tigers had two runners in the top 10: Sam Quagliaroli placed fourth and Tate Meaux was 10th.

Hamilton Southeastern’s Ashenafi Caylor placed 14th to lead the Royals, while Jack Loiselle took 26th to pace Westfield.

Meanwhile, the Millers girls team took care of business early, placing six runners in the top 10. That included all of positions three through seven. In order, Noblesville’s finishers were Nadia Perez (third), Summer Rempe (fourth), Paige Hazelrigg (fifth), Ansley Applegate (sixth) and Riley Flynn (seventh). Kennedy Applegate placed 10th.

Hamilton Southeastern was the meet runner-up with 78 points. The Royals were led by Maggie Powers, the runner-up in a time of 18:06.8. Elizabeth Butler finished eighth.

Westfield also had a top-10 finisher, with Sydney Klinglesmith taking ninth. Abby Lotter led Fishers by placing 42nd.
