The Hamilton Heights cross country team hosted its annual Landes Invitational on Thursday.
The Huskies girls team won the event, easily outdistancing runner-up Lapel 29-57. Heights’ Maria Mitchell won the race in a time of 18:51, with Abby Roth placing third, Chloe Henderson eighth and Abby Christianson ninth.
University finished with 121 points, landing two runners in the top 20: Jada Swearing placed 14th and Ella Eskenazi was 17th. Sheridan had two runners in the race: Alexis Weiss took 31st and Brianna Hunter was 50th.
In the boys competition, Lapel won the team championship, with Western Boone edging out Heights by one point, 62-63. Preston Miller took seventh for the Huskies, while Price Knowles was ninth.
University scored 159 points. The Trailblazers’ Noah Laramore was the highest-finishing county boys runner, taking fourth. Sheridan scored 177 points, with Caleb Duke placing 13th.
