Cross country: Fishers boys win at Noblesville Hokum Karem

The weather was perfect at the Chinquapin Ridge Cross Country Course Saturday for the Noblesville Hokum Karem.
The Fishers boys team enjoyed the race the most, as the Tigers won the Boys AA Division. Fishers scored 13 points, ahead of North Central’s 19. Noblesville placed third with 30 and Westfield was fourth with 35.
The Tigers claimed the race winners, with the duo of Sam Kuhn and Ethan Meyer finishing the relay-formatted race in 28:51.8. Brandon Reyes and Alex Meyer placed seventh, with Nick Simopoulos and Will Clark taking ninth.
The other two county teams had one duo each in the top 10. Zachary Freeman and Justin Amburgy led the Millers with a sixth-place finish, with Nick Leahy and Tyler Smith taking eighth for the Shamrocks.
In the girls race, Brownsburg won the AA Division with 10 points. Noblesville was second with 14 and Westfield placed third with 22.
The Millers landed three duos in the top 10: Sophie Reichard and Taylor Gregory took fourth, Aubrey Swart and Aubrie Deal finished sixth and Bella Sharples-Gordon and Sophie Stahl placed seventh.
Gabby Dilick and Sarah Coates led the ‘Rocks with a fifth-place finish.

Maria Mitchell had a great race in Rushville Saturday, and helped the Hamilton Heights girls to a fourth place result in the Division 2 of the Rushville Invitational.
The Huskies scored 103 points. Mitchell was the individual runner-up, clocking in with a time of 19:37.28.
Hamilton Heights’ boys placed 10th as a team; Price Knowles led the Huskies by taking 33rd.

The Carmel girls team finished second at the Taylor University Invitational on Saturday.
The Greyhounds finished with 73 points, second only to Pike’s 67. Elle Nichol led Carmel by placing 11th, followed by Madalyn Sailors in 13th, Halle Welch in 15th, Emma Wright 16th and Martha Hunter 18th. Olivia Shafer, Eva Brungard, Anna Nelsen, Adell Urtel and Corinne Miller rounded out the Greyhounds’ top 10.
We have the Hamilton County Meet on Tuesday this next week so we did hold out several girls so they would be fresh,” said Carmel coach Andy Dalton. “Regardless, we put together a solid team of good runners today and they came to compete. As a coaching staff, we were pleased to see our athletes put themselves in good positions throughout the race, but in particular as they moved up as a pack for the final 3K of the race. Madison Lindfelt was the JV winner and she handled her first high school 5K like a pro.”
