The Carmel girls and the Noblesville boys cross country teams won the team championships at last Saturday’s Hamilton County cross country meet, which took place at the Millers’ Chanquapin Ridge Course at White River Elementary School.
In the girls meet, the Greyhounds won comfortably, scoring 26 points to runner-up Noblesville’s 66. Carmel had five runners in the top 10, starting with winner Sadie Foley, who cruised to victory in 18 minutes, 28.7 seconds.
Annabel Pollert finished third for the Hounds, with Larkin Taylor placing fifth. Margo Halle (eighth) and Olivia Mundt (ninth) also reached the top 10.
The Millers were led by Ansley Applegate’s fourth-place finish, with Riley Flynn taking seventh. Hamilton Southeastern was a strong third by scoring 73 points; Elizabeth Butler was the individual runner-up and Catey Campbell placed 10th.
Westfield scored 98 points for fourth place, with Alivia Lozier taking sixth individually.
Three in top five
Noblesville’s boys placed three runners in the top five, which helped keep the Millers’ score low. Noblesville totaled 36 points, ahead of Carmel’s 64 points. The Millers’ John Libs was the individual runner-up, followed by Banner Barnes in fourth and Ronnie Neal in fifth.
The Greyhounds’ Jack Capes led his team, finishing in sixth place. Southeastern took third with 71 points; Liam Powers placed third individually.
Fishers scored 85 points for fourth place. The Tigers had the individual winner in Sam Quagliaroli; the senior completed the course in 15:13.3 Nate Thomas finished 10th.
Westfield’s Will Snedeker placed seventh, while Guerin Catholic’s Luke Moster finished ninth.
