County Treasurer works to make a difference

Every year, Indiana County Treasurers are required to attend a state-called meeting directed by State Board of Accounts staff, furthering the education and knowledge of law changes to the treasurers and their staff in attendance.

Under the leadership of Indiana County Treasurer’ Association (ICTA) President Jennifer Templeton, Hamilton County Treasurer, and executive board members Vice President Tom Krueckeberg, Adams County; Treasurer Elaine Wellman, Daviess County; Secretary Weston Reed, Howard County and Past President Paula Stewart, Lawrence County, the group decided during this conference that treasurers would work to make a positive impact on those persons in need.

Templeton asked members of the association to bring with them non-food items that are used daily and would be taken to local trustees to assist those needs. The outpouring of generosity was tremendous, and the donations were enough to be split between three Hamilton County Trustees.

The executive board plans to continue this outreach project in the coming years and has asked everyone in attendance to continue this kind of outreach in their own counties when they return home.

Lots of non-food items were donated at a recent meeting of the Indiana County Treasurers' Association.
